Rhodochrosite
Being as kind to yourself as you are to everyone else.
What the tradition reads it as
Grows in banded ribbons in old silver mines, which is why the best material comes out of Argentina and Colorado. In the tradition it is the stone people buy for themselves rather than receive — pointed inward by default.
When people wear it
Worn through the ordinary and surprisingly difficult work of extending yourself the same patience you extend to other people.
What you are actually holding
Manganese carbonate. The pink and white bands are growth layers, like rings in wood, and no two beads are cut at the same point in the sequence. Soft enough to mark with a steel pin.
How to look after it
The softest stone in the catalogue at 4 Mohs, and a carbonate — it reacts to acid, including sweat and citrus. Put it on last, take it off first, wipe it dry every time.

In a reading
The self-directed stone: patience extended to your own case.
Crystal meanings are described as cultural tradition, not fact. Stones and readings are offered for reflection, not as medical, financial, or legal advice.
