Quartz with iron in the water it grew in.
The honey colour is iron oxide that entered along the fractures while the quartz was still growing — the same chemistry that stains a riverbed. In crystal tradition it is the warm counterpart to clear quartz, kept for steady rather than sudden work. The trade name is older than any of the claims attached to it, and we use it only as a name.

Hard at 7 Mohs, but the amber runs along healed fractures, and those planes stay slightly weaker than the rest of the bead. Avoid sudden temperature change — hot tap water straight after cold hands is the realistic risk, not scratching.
