Green Aventurine

Trying again on a Tuesday.

What the tradition reads it as

Gamblers gave it the "stone of opportunity" nickname, but the tradition that actually stuck is far gentler: the second attempt, the slow lane, the thing you keep doing after the enthusiasm wears off.

When people wear it

For long unglamorous stretches — the training plan in week six, the project with no audience yet.

What you are actually holding

Quartzite glittering with tiny plates of fuchsite mica. Turn a bead toward a lamp and the sparkle appears in flashes rather than a continuous shine; that effect is called aventurescence and the stone is named for it.

How to look after it

6.5 Mohs, safe for daily wear. Mica plates sit near the surface, so avoid abrasive polish — it will dull the sparkle before it dulls the stone.

Green aventurine picked up the name "stone of opportunity" among gamblers, but the tradition that stuck is gentler: the stone of trying again on a Tuesday. Its glitter comes from tiny mica inclusions, visible when you turn it toward a lamp.
